WAEPA Earns 2026 IMCA Showcase Award for Excellence in Insurance Marketing Communications

Falls Church, Va. (August 7, 2026) — WAEPA (Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies, Inc.) is proud to announce that it has received a 2026 IMCA Showcase Award from the Insurance Marketing & Communications Association (IMCA) for its direct mail campaign promoting life insurance to current and former Civilian Federal Employees.

WAEPA earned Bronze in the Direct Mail Advertisement category, recognizing the campaign’s creative execution, strategic approach, and measurable business impact.

The campaign launched during the 2025 FEHB Open Season and sought to increase awareness and consideration of WAEPA’s life insurance offerings among eligible current and former Civilian Federal Employees.

By combining clear, consumer-friendly messaging with the credibility of direct mail, the campaign helped simplify a complex insurance decision while encouraging prospective members to take action.

The campaign contributed to record Open Season application volume while exceeding acquisition efficiency goals, demonstrating how thoughtfully integrated direct mail can drive high-intent digital engagement.

“Earning trust is one of the greatest challenges in insurance marketing, and it begins with clear communication,” said Stacy Outlaw, Chief Marketing Officer. “Receiving this recognition from IMCA, an organization specifically dedicated to marketing and communications in the insurance industry, makes this award especially meaningful. It reinforces that, even as marketing channels continue to evolve, there remains tremendous value in meeting people with relatable, credible information that aligns with the decision they’re making.”

The award reflects WAEPA’s broader marketing philosophy: preserving the trust built over more than 80 years while continuing to evolve alongside today’s audiences.

“The most effective campaigns don’t start with asking ‘Digital or traditional?’ They start with understanding the audience,” said Jessie Courson, Associate Creative Director. “Life insurance is a significant, often personal decision, and direct mail creates space for the consumer to slow down, absorb information, and carefully weigh their options. That’s exactly what we set out to accomplish, and it’s rewarding to see that work recognized by leaders within the insurance communications and marketing industry.”
