WAEPA Marks 30 Years of Premium Refunds with 2026 Refund
Since introducing premium refunds in 1996, the nonprofit association has returned more than $125 million to eligible members.
WAEPA (Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies, Inc.) is proud to announce that its Board of Directors has approved a 2026 10% premium refund for eligible members.
“Thirty years of premium refunds says something important about the kind of organization WAEPA is,” says M. Shane Canfield, CEO of WAEPA. “When our financial performance allows, we have the opportunity to share that value directly with the Federal community we serve. Reaching this milestone while returning another 10% to members is a meaningful reflection of our mission and the purpose that has guided WAEPA for more than 80 years.”
2026 Premium Refund
Eligible WAEPA members will receive a 10% refund of their 2025 annualized premium, based on coverage in force as of December 31, 2025.
While premium refunds are not guaranteed, WAEPA has awarded a premium refund in 30 of the last 31 years. Since introducing the program in 1996, the Association has returned more than $125 million to eligible members.
Celebrating 30 Years of Premium Refunds
This year marks 30 years since WAEPA introduced its premium refund program in 1996. Each year, WAEPA’s Board of Directors evaluates its fiscal performance in the previous year as well as the outlook for upcoming years. Based on this evaluation, the Board determines whether a premium refund can be issued to members.
As a nonprofit association founded For Feds, By Feds, WAEPA’s premium refund program reflects its commitment to returning value to members whenever fiscally prudent. Beyond annual premium refunds, WAEPA has also supported members, issuing premium forgiveness during government shutdowns twice in the last 10 years, including November 2025.
