Unemployment Compensation

Also called unemployment insurance, this program provides compensation to former Federal employees who lost employment through no fault of their own. 

Feds should apply for benefits in the jurisdiction of their “duty station,” meaning if you are a Marylander who works at a job based in Virginia, you would apply in Virginia.

In the D.C. area, the Capital Area Food Bank has expanded its food distributions to help Federal workers throughout the DMV.  

Visitors can receive food by showing a government work ID.

DMV-area restaurants, museums, and more are offering discounts and deals to Federal workers during the ongoing shutdown.
