WAEPA Earns dotCOMM Awards for Website Design, Brand Storytelling, and Digital Communications

Falls Church, Va. (August 14, 2026) — WAEPA (Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies, Inc.) is proud to announce that it has received multiple 2026 dotCOMM Awards, an international competition honoring excellence in digital communication, web creativity, and marketing.

WAEPA received a Platinum Award—the competition’s highest distinction—for Nonprofit Website Design, recognizing the organization’s commitment to creating a digital experience that makes complex insurance information accessible, intuitive, and actionable for current and former Civilian Federal Employees and their families.

“Our website has to be a lot of things to a lot of different people,” said Stacy Outlaw, Chief Marketing Officer. “It’s where prospective members learn about life insurance, current members manage their policies, beneficiaries find guidance during difficult moments, and families turn for answers during major life transitions. Balancing clarity, accessibility, compliance, and accuracy across all those experiences is an ongoing responsibility. Receiving this recognition affirms that thoughtful digital user experiences can make even the most complex topics easier to navigate.”

Over the past decade, WAEPA has undergone a deliberate digital transformation to modernize the experience of an 80-year-old nonprofit while preserving the trust and credibility that have defined the organization since 1943.

“Every improvement reflects close collaboration across internal and external stakeholders and experts, including marketing, web design and UX, Member Services, IT, and compliance,” said Jessie Courson, Associate Creative Director. “Our challenge has been meeting current expectations for digital convenience while communicating a highly regulated product with accuracy and care. It’s incredibly rewarding to see that long-term work recognized on an international stage.”

The organization also received a Gold Award for Living Legacy: Evolving Brand Storytelling for a Changing Federal Workforce in the Content Marketing, Website Story category, recognizing WAEPA’s evolving digital brand strategy in response to the ongoing changes in the Federal landscape. In addition, Navigating Federal Workforce Transition: A Mission-Driven Content Initiative received an Honorable Mention in the Blog Single Post category.

“Sometimes periods of uncertainty create moments of clarity for brands—if they’re willing to listen,” said Madison Jones, Communications Manager. “The questions Federal employees were asking challenged us to think more deeply about how WAEPA’s mission could respond to people where they were. We adapted our strategy to create content that wasn’t just timely, but genuinely useful in our audience’s everyday lives. It’s rewarding to see that approach recognized.”
