FEEA Offers Free Online Tutoring Program for Kids of Eligible Federal Employees

Students across the country are experiencing educational loss and disruption due to the pandemic. Creating stressful environments for parents who aren’t able to fill that void or afford to have someone do so. Extra academic support is essential more than ever to help those kids stay afloat or catch up with their studies. To help, FEEA (The Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund) has developed a new program for the children of eligible feds to access free, online academic tutoring for most K-12 subjects. This program is part of FEEA’s goal to provide emergency financial assistance and scholarships to civilian federal and postal public servants and their families.

Children in grades K-12 of current, regular hire, federal civilian and postal employees who earn a full-time equivalent annual salary of under $100,000 per year are eligible to apply as of now. The salary cap may increase in the future, if resources allow.

If you meet FEEA’s program requirements, you can apply now. Please submit only one application and do not create your own account on Tutor.com. It may take up to 5 business days for your application to be processed and your credentials emailed to you if you are approved.

Coast Guard and Department of Defense civilians should access tutoring here (On a phone/small screen, you will need to look all the way to the right under the image to find and click the last box “DoD Civilians”).

If your salary is over the cap or you are not a regular hire federal employee, you can access tutor.com services for a fee.

How Does it Work?

FEEA partners with Tutor.com, a service of the Princeton Review, to provide the online tutoring. Once you register and are approved by FEEA, you will be given one login for all of your children to share to access the Tutor.com platform and meet with tutors. Sign up today if you think you might want to use the service in the future. It can take up to 5 business days after registration with FEEA for Tutor.com to email your credentials.

At Tutor.com, students can get personalized help in most K-12 subjects. Every tutoring session is anonymous and takes place in a secure online classroom.

In addition, students using Tutor.com can:

• Work with a tutor from any internet-connected device.
• Connect to an expert tutor on demand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• Get personalized tutoring help online three ways: request a tutor’s help right now, schedule a future tutoring session or upload a document for offline review.

FEEA is currently not limiting the number of sessions per family and anticipates offering tutoring through the current school year or June 30, 2021.
