WAEPA + Blacks in Government

WAEPA CEO M. Shane Canfield and BIG president, Shirley Jones discuss WAEPA and BIG’s partnership, the future of federal leaders, and more.

Falls Church, VA., December 20, 2022: WAEPA (Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies, Inc.) is proud to announce a sponsorship of Blacks in Government (BIG), specifically its Future Leaders in America’s Government (FLAG) program.

WAEPA CEO M. Shane Canfield and BIG president, Shirley Jones, sat down to discuss WAEPA and BIG’s partnership and how the missions of both organizations align to promote the next generation of federal service.

BIG was established in 1975 with a mission of promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility both within the federal government and in local communities. In 2009, BIG established the FLAG program, a mentorship program for middle school, high school, and college students, with a goal of these students seeing their local, state, and federal government as a model employer.

WAEPA joined as a corporate sponsor of BIG and the FLAG program in 2021.
