Are you a civilian employee of Health and Health Services under the age of 70? If you’re a United States citizen within your first full year of work with the federal government, you may qualify for Group Term Life Insurance and other benefits from WAEPA.
WAEPA – Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies – is a nonprofit organization that was originally established in 1943. Since 1973, WAEPA has provided Group Term Life Insurance and a variety of other valuable services to all civilians within the U.S. federal government.
Whether you work within a health department, the Office of the Inspector General or any other agency within Health and Human Services, you can qualify for benefits. Doctors, educators, administrators, clerical and technical experts are all eligible.

Group Term Life Insurance
Group Life Insurance from WAEPA provides up to $1.5 million in coverage for eligible members, which will not be lost if you change jobs or retire – even after leaving the federal government. An eligible member’s coverage also extends to spouse and children.
Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance
Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance means qualifying federal employees, including Health and Health Services employees, cannot be turned down coverage for up to $100,000 within their first year of hire. If you qualify for this offer, you do not need to submit medical documentation or other complex paperwork to access your benefits. An applicant must simply be a U.S. citizen under age 70 applying within one year of first-time, non-military government hire.
Compared to FEGLI, WAEPA provides lower costs and premiums for members across several age groups. You never need to submit medical documentation or other complex paperwork. Our HHS employee Group Term Life Insurance is yours to continue using even if you change jobs or leave federal service.
