Financial & Retirement Planning and Life Insurance for DoD Employees
Since 1943, Worldwide Assurance for Employees of Public Agencies (WAEPA) has provided group term life insurance, retirement planning, and financial services as benefits to employees of the federal government, including Department of Defense civilian personnel.
DOD employees throughout the military, including the Army, National Guard, Navy, Marines and Air Force, may qualify for services under WAEPA. Active-duty military servicemembers do not qualify, but may be eligible after transition to a DOD civilian role.

Life Insurance Options
WAEPA is proud to offer life insurance plans for new Department of Defense employees that give you the reliability and flexibility you truly need. Compared to FEGLI, WAEPA provides lower costs and premiums for members across several age groups.
Group Term Life Insurance
Group Life Insurance from WAEPA provides up to $1.5 million in coverage for eligible members, which will not be lost if you change jobs or retire – even after leaving the federal government. An eligible member’s coverage also extends to spouse and children.
Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance
Guaranteed Issue Life Insurance means qualifying federal employees, including DOD civilians, cannot be turned down. There are no requirements for medical documentation. An applicant must simply be a U.S. citizen under age 70 applying within one year of first-time, non-military government hire.
Long-Term Care Insurance
Long-Term Care Insurance provides extra protection if you are injured or become ill. WAEPA has been protecting members against the high costs of long-term medical care since introducing this service in 1998.
Long-term care benefits activate if you are unable to care for yourself for medical reasons. They cover a portion of the cost of services provided by facilities such as nursing homes, adult day care centers, assisted living facilities or professional care taking place in your own home.
