The WAEPA College Scholarship Program

WAEPA has established a scholarship program exclusively for policy holders’ children who attend college or vocational school programs. Annual scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 are offered each year to support full-time study at an accredited institution. This scholarship program is administered by Scholarship Management Services, a department of Scholarship America. Scholarship America is a national nonprofit educational support and student aid service organization that seeks to involve and assist the private sector in expanding educational opportunities and encouraging educational achievement.

Awards are granted without regard to race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, or national origin.

2009 Scholarship Program!

WAEPA is pleased to offer sixty-five scholarships for the 2009-2010 Academic Year in the following amounts.

$4,000 Scholarship - One award, renewable up to three years.
$3,000 Scholarship - Three awards, renewable up to two years.
$2,000 Scholarship - Six awards, renewable up to one year.
$1,000 Scholarship - Fifty-five awards.

2008 Scholarship Recipients!

Second Year of WAEPA Scholarship Program A Big Success!

As a result of the overwhelming response to the first year of the WAEPA Scholarship Program, and the many deserving candidates, WAEPA's Board of Directors decided to significantly expand the program for 2008.

WAEPA awarded sixty-five scholarships for the 2008-2009 Academic Year in the following amounts.

$4,000 Scholarship - One award, renewable up to three years.
$3,000 Scholarship - Three awards, renewable up to two years.
$2,000 Scholarship - Six awards, renewable up to one year.
$1,000 Scholarship - Forty awards.

Scholarship America (the program administrator) evaluated all the applicants on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership in school, community, or volunteer activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. The quality of all the applicants, according to Scholarship America, was phenomenal!

First Year of WAEPA Scholarship Program Exceeds All Expectations!

The response to the first year of the WAEPA Scholarship Program was phenomenal. Scholarship America, the program administrator, received over 500 applications. This was more than double their original estimate. Scholarship America reported that the response to the WAEPA Program was one of the highest they had seen for the first year of a scholarship program.

Scholarship America evaluated all the applicants on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership in school, community, or volunteer activities, honors, work experience, goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. The quality of all the applicants, according to Scholarship America, was phenomenal!

While the applicant pool was extremely impressive, Scholarship America ultimately selected the fifteen recipients of the inaugural WAEPA Scholarship Awards:
